Goosebumps-inducing National Anthem performed by Sachal Orchestra
The event officially kicked off when Sachal Orchestra played the Pakistani nation anthem in front of thousands of cricket fanatics. The stadium was lit to host a star-studded ceremony, and the event was off to a flying start (literally) when Ali Zafar performed a special rendition of his hit Coke Studio number Rockstar, and enthralled the audiences, giving them the money’s worth.
The ceremony was hosted by Bilal Ashraf, and Hareem Farooq who failed to impress but thank God, we had little time to focus on them, amid the presence of international cricketing stars.
Teams in the house!
After the spectacular light show, Ramiz Raja opened the floor to all the teams of the tournament. Ramiz Raja also had some interesting moments with the captains, and engaged them.
“PSL is a national asset, and we need to safeguard it”
Said the PCB Chairman Najam Sethi in his welcome speech while speaking at the opening ceremony. He also expressed his determination to bring the entire tournament to Pakistan in the next couple of years.
Magical performance by Abida Parveen!
Abida Parveen clearly stole the show last night, as the audiences swayed to the sufi medley. Performance of the night can surely be crowned to Abida Parveen’s who induced goose bumps just few seconds into her performance on Chal Bulleya Othay Chaliye followed by a preppy medley of all her songs.
Jason Derulo won hearts with his electric performance!
Thanks to the electric performance by the American singer, dancer, and songwriter, the audiences were left in frenzy after the performance. The international star drew some loud cheers and applause from the audiences as he performed his popular hit Swalla, and other smash hit numbers.
Shehzad Roy & Ali Zafar enthralled the fans too!
Shehzad Roy is associated with the HBL PSL since the inception of the league. Last night too, he rocked the stage with his performance. As for the last musical performance of the night, Ali Zafar took the stage again and performed the PSL anthem “Dil Se Jaan Laga De”.
After the performances, the night skies were filled with fireworks marking that the stage was set for some cricketing action. The opening ceremony concluded with colors, fireworks and more, making way for the live action.
Later, the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi took on the debutants Multan Sultans where Multan Sultans got off to a winning start on their debut. Follow the schedule of PSL3 to see the cricket action rolling live. Cheers!
